He waves the torch at the creatures while they continue to shriek like angry harpies. “They hate fire!” Dorian laughs. “Makes ’em real angry.”

“Oh man,” Kodar jeers, barely able to get the words out. “Did you hear the dungeon dweebs squeal?”

“What a bunch of wusses!” taunts Tess.

“Psh! That was Coop!” Zeek puffs out his chest. “I wasn’t even scared.”

“Me neither, I just got startled is all,” I say, catching my breath.

Dorian gestures to the restless creatures behind bars. “Taming a nether bharg is a rite of passage here at Castle X. Once you earn their respect, they’ll let you ride them. And riding them is amazing because they FLY.”

“Whoa,” Axel mutters. “You hear that, Zeek? We’re gonna be flyin’, dude! How awesome is that?”

“Sure beats Dungeoneer Academy!” Zeek exclaims. “How could this place possibly get any better?”

“You like cool toys?” Dorian asks, already knowing the answer. “I got the good stuff. Follow me.”

Dorian brings us to what he calls the armory, a room packed with so much gear, weapons, and equipment that it rivals what we saw in the Academy Vault. Swords, axes, suits of armor, cases full of rings and amulets, and a plethora of items and devices I can’t even recognize. I have to admit, it’s kinda cool!
