The bed was completely destroyed when we left the room and I almost wished Iâd be able to see Vinceâs face when he found it. The wooden bed frame clawed and broken in a heap on the floor. Along with the dresser and every bit of lingerie I could find in the large space. But I felt giddy as I closed the doors while Mnason ran his claws over the glass cracking it. I think I liked being wicked.
We entered one of the doors to the left of the staircase and entered my favorite little place. It was a small space that wasn't used for much, so it became my little haven in the giant house. It was the only place that had been truly my own for the past five years of Vince and Iâs relationship. The door led through a little hallway that I had decorated with my favorite prints and movie posts. Beyond that was a little nook area.
Manson led us into the area and looked around, his eyes scanning over everything. I held my breath for some odd reason, wanting him to like the small space that was mine. I leaned against the wall as he perused the space.
âIs this one of your smutty books?â He raised an eyebrow, picking the thick book up off the coffee table. My all-time favorite books always sat on the coffee table. The spines were so cracked from use, and I'd probably need to repurchase them soon.
âYes.â My cheeks flushed as he started flipping through pages of each book sitting on the wooden surface. It felt odd that someone was in my space. Vince never came in here. On the occasions he did, he always seemed out of place and would quickly retreat.
I hated taking up space in this house. It always felt like I wasn't supposed to be here. But this space felt like my own. I had decorated it with things I had collected. It was a space that was never used for anything else, just kind of discarded in the huge mansion. But it felt like mine. Oh, but now it wasn't mine anymore since my eviction. Did anything beyond what could fit in a small box still belong to me?
The small room was basically the size of a walk-in closet with a large window. Outside the forest that led to the legendary Town of Midnight, where I had summoned Manson, swirled in a late-night wind. I loved watching those pines sway as I read quietly to myself. It had taken a few large bookcases to hold all my favorite booksâmostly smutty monster romances and some fun toys to play with. A large oversized striped armchair sat by the window, along with a night-sky throw blanket. It was Dusty's favorite place to sit, as evidenced by all the hair. The only lighting in the room was twinkling fairy lights. I'd really miss this place after tonight. It made my heart hurt a little, realizing I wouldn't be able to sit by this big, arching window anymore.
