Judy was dealing with her own real-life breakup. She and John had been married for sixteen years. They had gotten married when they were very young. Judy had become a very different person. She had grown and changed. And she wanted to try new things. She and John divorced in 1975.
The divorce was very hard on the Blume family. Judy had written about how families deal with divorce in Itâs Not the End of the World . But that didnât make it any easier in real life.
