Chapter 8

“Well, what the fuck happened?” Jacob asked as Brad and Luke began getting dressed. Jacob already knew that Luke, Brad, and Toni had sex. He could smell it in the room. If he was at all honest with himself, he would recognize the fact that he really wasn’t that pissed about it. His wolf seemed to be torn with the realization that he must share Toni.

“We didn’t do anything. Everything was great until…” Brad stopped.

“Until what?” Troy questioned.

“Until we mentioned fucking her ass,” Luke replied nonchalantly.

“You didn’t try to, did you?” Jacob growled his question as he took a step toward Luke with his fists clenched at his sides.

“That’s none of your fucking business,” Luke countered, then flexed his pectoral muscles as he stretched his neck in challenge, giving Jacob a death stare.

“If anyone is fucking her ass first, it will be me!” Troy added to the tension.

“I don’t think so,” Brad countered.

Once again an argument began, and all four wolves were ready to fight.

It was Jacob who stopped the argument before it went further.

“Stop!”

The others looked at him, ready to attack him, including his brother.

“We’re not thinking about Toni in any of this. We’re focused on our own power trips and control of her. She’s human, not were, and we need to remember that.”

Luke ran a hand through his hair.

“My wolf doesn’t give a shit about human or were. It wants to mate and claim,” Luke countered.

A mumbled agreement went through the room.

“You’re right,” Luke replied to Jacob’s comment.

“Did he just agree with me?” Jacob asked his brother, giving Troy a nudge in the shoulder.

“Don’t get fucking used to it, Crimson,” Luke countered, then the four of them chuckled.

It was a small bit of progress if they could talk things out instead of tear each other apart. Jacob wanted this resolved so they could work on finding out who wanted them dead.

“Toni, emotionally and perhaps physically, can’t handle all four of us at once. It’s not going to happen anytime soon.”

“What do you suggest, Jacob?” Brad asked.

“We’re going to have to split up our time with her,” Jacob replied.

“I’m not going to be apart from my mate for days at a time. Wolves need their mates all the time. Once the mating heat kicks in, she’ll be living in fucking bed,” Luke countered.

They all moaned in agreement.

Troy looked toward the bathroom door.

“We’re going to have to figure something out, or Toni is going to get hurt.”

“We need to secure the bond with her, but she needs time to get used to all of us in one room together.”

“Fuck!” Luke stated, running his fingers through his hair as he exhaled.

“I need fucking time getting used to all of us in a room with her, especially when she’s naked,” Luke added.

The grumbling went through the room at Luke’s words.

“If this is our fate and we are to share a mate, then we’ll have to do whatever needs to be done for Toni’s sake,” Jacob replied as he glanced toward the bathroom door.
