The air-conditioned hallway of closed doors did nothing to diffuse the chaos of sensations I felt standing before Stephan’s door.

Days had passed since Creston’s death and my weakest moment in Stephan’s arms. Though life in the den on Rosemont Drive had continued, quiet and normal for a house full of werewolf females, something had gone missing within me. I’d sulked. I’d pouted. I hadn’t even risen to the occasion when Meg purposely tried to pick a fight. After the fourth night dreaming of Stephan and his damned gray silk sheets, I knew what was missing.

I wasn’t sure how to proceed, didn’t know how to behave. The only thing I knew, with any certainty was if I didn’t see him, touch him, taste his skin again soon, I’d lose my mind. If I hadn’t already.

Arms crossed, I stood before the door to 212, hesitant to knock. My heart beat an erratic tattoo, an odd sense of anxiety jittered through the clenched muscles of my upper body.

Would he even want to see me? He hadn’t called since that night.
