CHAPTER SEVENTEEN

Tácito

As I stare into the warm brown depths of Sloane’s beautiful eyes, gratitude and anticipation play havoc inside my body. My skin, sensitive to the warm puffs of air escaping her plush lips, prickle in expectation of her touch. My dick, engorged and ready for her sheathe, weeps pearly fluid. And my heart…the organ that has been hers all my life thuds her name within my chest.

I look toward Valentino with a question in my eyes.

“You want my permission to do something before we begin?”

I nod. I open my mouth to explain, but he slashes his hand in the air.

“Do what you need to do, amico mio.”

I place Sloane’s hand above my heart. “I couldn’t exchange vows with you earlier, so let me do so now. I, Tácito Sandoval, take you to be my wife and in turn give my life to you. This heart that beats beneath my chest beats only for you and is a testament to my fidelity, trust, and faith. I promise to love you the way you need, spoil you the way you deserve, patch you back together no matter how difficult the task, and devote my life to making your dreams a reality.”

A tear slips down Sloane’s cheek. “Tácito…I’ll never understand what miracle landed you in my life.” She clears her throat, raises her luminous eyes to mine, and rests my hand over her heart. “I’m so unprepared for this, but I’ll give it a shot.”

“That’s not necessary. I said what I said because I couldn’t keep my feelings bottled up inside any longer. Tell me how you feel when it’s right for you.”

“Now is the right time for me, though I probably won’t be as eloquent as you.” She takes a deep breath. Heat from her hand resting above my heart permeates my chest, causing my blood to slow and putting everything in hyper focus.

“I…I’m not worthy to have such a good man in my life, but I will hang onto you until my bones break and the flesh melts from my body. I will protect your heart and guard your life with all that I have to make sure we see a forever’s worth of sunrises. And though I can’t promise you’ll never have to patch me up in the future, I promise to fight to come back to you alive, no matter the obstacle.”

Each word she utters seals itself inside my heart. I lean down to kiss her when she giggles and rolls her eyes.

In answer to my upraised brow, she signs, “Valentino said, he’s given you enough leeway and that it’s pastime for me to pop your cherry.”

I ignore his levity and capture Sloane’s lips on a laugh. I can taste the joy on her lips and it fills my heart. This kiss starts off easy. A slow glide to separate the seam barring her tongue from exploration. A lick to taste her unique flavor. She breathes into my mouth, and instead of taking the opportunity to sink into her further, I back off.
