Chapter 6

Sealey The rest of lunch went well and I could see actually having a good relationship with my in-laws. I really think they had had Emiel’s best interest at heart but needed to clean their ears out. They only had one child who wasn’t like them and since Emiel didn’t want to get involved in politics or socialite stuff as they were, they assumed he was socially inept or something… And that they should take the matter of his happiness and mating into their own hands.

Maybe it had started out as a nudge or helping him, but then it got out of control. Either way, it was over now and my mate looked years younger almost with the tension eased from his body and relief surrounding him.

We stopped at Target on the way home and picked up supplies. “I’ve heard about these places,” I said excitedly as I pulled out a cart, glancing around in awe. “The last time I was in America was decades ago so I have enough of the lingo down at least. But I’ve never seen anything quite like this, not that I do any of the shopping regularly. I’m more of a homebody with an occasional trip to the pub or theater.”

“We’re a good match like that,” my mate purred as he surrounded me with his big frame as I pushed the cart. He even held the bar with me, his hands over mine. He leaned in and sniffed my neck. “We can come here as often as you want but it’s been too long since I’ve made you come so let’s hurry this time.”

“You’re killing me,” I whimpered. “How about you claim me when we get home and I’ll explain to everyone else what I’m doing there when you’re in musth.”

“We discussed this,” he rumbled. “You can’t be around me in musth the first time by yourself. Don’t you trust me?”

“I always trust you.” I glanced up at him to make sure he believed what I was saying. He nodded and I saw his expression soften. “I just really, really want to feel you inside of me.”

“Well, I want to be with you too,” he mumbled and glanced away. It was a very odd reaction… Again. He kept doing that.

“Should we get lots of lube so I’m nice and slicked up for you so you can penetrate me easier?” I asked as he pulled away, focusing on his reaction. It was subtle, but I saw it. He visibly flinched. “Okay, Emiel. Time to confess to whatever you’re keeping from me. I thought we both agreed no lies and honesty was best.”

“I wasn’t lying,” he sighed as he ran his hand over his shorter blond hair. I saw sadness in his green eyes when he focused them on me. “It was more coming to terms with something and waiting until we handled another item on our laundry list of shit before bringing it up.”

“Okay, that’s fair,” I hedged, seeing how badly this was upsetting him.
