ACTUALLY, I DIDN’T sleep at all well. Gazing into the darkness for hours on end, thinking about the girl in the woods, I’d imagined ghosts roaming the house in the dark of the night. I must have had a few hours’ sleep, but it didn’t feel like it. Glancing at the clock, I couldn’t believe that it was gone nine. ‘What’s going on?’ I asked, entering the lounge and staring at another middle-aged man.

‘This gentleman is blackmailing us, madam,’ Sally said.

‘I know what’s going on here,’ he said, staring at me accusingly. ‘All I’m asking is that you allow me to visit and enjoy your girls in return for my keeping quiet.’

‘I think we can sort something out,’ I replied, smiling at him.

‘I’m pleased to hear it,’ he murmured. ‘You’re obviously a sensible woman.’

‘Anything for a quiet life,’ I said.

‘I’m into young schoolgirls. Are you able to offer –’

‘Indeed we are, sir,’ I interrupted him, winking at Sally. ‘In fact, your timing is spot on. We have a new girl starting today. She’s young, and she’s a virgin.’

‘Perfect,’ he breathed, grinning at me.

‘The girl will be here any minute now. Sally, show the gentleman down to the den.’

‘Certainly, madam. If you’ll come this way, sir?’

I followed them down to the basement, determined to nip this in the bud. There was no way I was going to be blackmailed by some sad pervert.
