“The Wisteria Tree:

Standing in the forest on an open patch of ground

Surrounded by enormous trees, I’m never to be found

Until a drop from in the sky lands right upon my skin

The sun shines bright and opens up a shower to begin

My head tilts up, my eyes close tight, this beauty’s pure and true

I open up, look straight ahead, and there I now find you

Walking forward, joining me, under the sun and rain

We laugh and take each other’s hands, forgetting all past pain

Drenched and flushed and standing close, you plant on me a kiss

That sends a flash of warmth and light the forest does not miss

Now from our feet the roots begin to bury down below

Around our tangled bodies now, a trunk begins to grow

It wraps around us, keeping space, enough for just us two

Holes for sunbeams streaming in allow me to see you

Upon the top of this new tree the branches bud and bloom

Spilling purple petals down and filling our trunk room

Sealing us in floral grace for all eternity

Inside here we will remain, the wisteria, you, and me.”
