Chapter 7
After that, matters between me and Marcus became even murkier.
I wanted him; he wanted me, and we pleasured one another daily. I could barely go a day without his mouth on my core, making me enjoy. I learned to use my hands to please him quite well, and I knew he wanted more, yet I still hesitated.
I didnât think I would mind doing more, yet I couldnât gather the courage to admit it, and he didnât push me. Perhaps he was hoping I would take the initiative. I didnât doubt he would enjoy that, and more than once, I almost did, only to back down at the end.
On the farm, things remained perfect. With Marcusâs help, most of the worrisome matters were handled. Summer would last a few weeks more, giving us more than enough time to gather the hay and the firewood we needed for winter.
There were some things I needed that I couldnât get on the farm, and so I gathered what I could trade in the market â grains, fruits, vegetables, and a few furs from the animals Marcus had hunted â and I set out for Clearview.
âAre you sure you donât want me to come?â Marcus asked me as I climbed into the cart. âI could stay out of sight, make sure nothing happens. No one would have to see me.â
I raised an eyebrow at him. âItâs not about that.â Well, perhaps a little, though I was starting to think I didnât much care about what others thought. Being with Marcus made me happier than I could describe, even if I hadnât given myself wholly to him yet. âThere are things that need to be done, and you know it. Besides, these roads have always been safe. There is no reason for that to change now.â
The beastman crossed his broad arms over his chest, and I let my eyes move over his muscles, marveling at them.
A grin took hold of Marcusâs lips. He didnât miss the way my eyes wandered.
I looked up, trying not to react, and ignored the slight blush on my cheeks.
He sighed. âIf you say so. Do remind me to teach you how to use a dagger, though. You never know when you can find some bandit on the road, and knowing how to defend yourself might save your life.â
I smiled, reached out, and patted his furry cheek. âYou worry too much.â
He shook his head at me as I took Brownâs reins and got him to move, and I felt his eyes burning into my figure the entire time.
It took hours for me to reach Clearview. It felt strange in a way. Since the last time I had been in town, I hadnât been away from Marcus for long, and now that I was, I found myself missing the beastman.
It was foolish. I would return in just a few hours and be near him again. Yet I still reacted like that.
I supposed I could do something fun for him when I returned.
