Brian went out to the garage on Thursday night. That’s where his parents put cardboard boxes to be recycled. He found a big one and took it back to his room. Then he started packing up the things he’d won.

He set each piece into the box carefully. The headset, the controllers, the Xbox, the copy of Minecraft—he loved all of it. He loved how it looked, how it felt. And he never had this much before! Gaming stuff was so expensive. He didn’t really have any money anyway. Sometimes he did chores around the house or cut Mr. Peterson’s lawn next door. But none of that paid a lot. He was also too young to get a job. So he only got new game stuff on his birthday or some holiday.

He imagined having piles of it. Every game, every controller, every system … every everything. It would be ready to use whenever he felt like it. Everyone would think of him as some kind of video game king. No, even better—a videomaniac. He’d have the best collection of gaming stuff around!

Then Elijah blew this dream away. Brian kept hearing Elijah’s voice in his head. It’s like stealing, Brian! It’s just like stealing! At first Brian tried to ignore it. Then he got tired of it. Now it was making him mad.

Once everything was packed in the box, he went to the computer. He had to remove the program. If he didn’t, Elijah would bug him about that, too.

He went back to the “Uninstall a Program” menu. Just like last time, he had to answer a bunch of questions first—
