I realise that I’m being stared at the moment we step out of the store.

One of the people who followed me before is there again. They’re standing at the opposite side of the street, their eyes on me. Why are they here?

“Jules?” Liam tugs on my sleeve. “What’s wrong?” There is strain in his voice. “Hunter?”

I shake my head. “No. A human following me. Don’t know why.”

“Ah.” He nods, relaxing a little, then he starts walking and I go after him.

On the other side of the street, the human also follows us.

Why? What’s going on? They’ve been light on following me these last days, why are they suddenly here?

Then, as we round a corner, I stop in my tracks.

Tyler!

Liam nearly bumps into him as he’s not realised it yet, and then Liam stumbles back.

Tyler’s eyes are on me, he was waiting for me here. He was waiting for me to come out of the shop.

Of course, they’re his. Those people following me, they’re Tyler’s. They’ve been telling him where I was, that’s how he knew where to find me and probably also why he knew where to find Sean.

Jace and Liam stare at Tyler and then at me, their eyes guarded.

“Jules.” Tyler nods.

“Ty.” I look at him again. Last night, I didn’t get a good look at him. But he looks older, he looks so much older than twenty-five, especially in the light of day. Would I look like that too if I’d aged like normal? What would it be... another twenty to forty years before I looked like that?

“We need to talk.” He now eyes Jace and Liam. “Alone.”

I need to know one thing first. “Where is Sean?” Can he show up at any time too? I’m not sure if I’m ready for that yet.

Tyler lets out a breath, his eyes going soft. “He’s looking for you elsewhere. Not around here. He’s not in any danger, I promise you.”

“You’ve got a spy on him too?” Tyler really does go too far sometimes.

“Normally, I wouldn’t. No use. But I had to make sure that he wasn’t in any danger while I went looking for you.”

“And you found me. Again.” I’m not sure if Tyler is being nice or just being an ass. It’s hard to read him now.

“I did. And I’d like to talk to you, like I said.” He looks so in control.

“Why now?”

“We both know why. And we both know that you’re not in any position to just hang around outside as you please.” There is a tension in his voice, his eyes going side to side.

Liam eyes him. “You can have your chat at our place. But we’re not leaving. We’re not leaving you alone with him.”

“Are you sure that’s a smart idea?” Tyler looks at me, and I know the look he’s giving me. It’s the ‘we’re twins, we should solve everything on our own’ look. But Liam is right, it’s better if they’re there too.

“Yes.” I nod and start walking again. “Let’s go.”
