Unsalted butter (melted) (1/3 cup)

Granulated sugar (1/4 cup)

For the filling:

Sweetened condensed milk (1 can)

Key lime juice (1/2 cup)

Key lime zest (1 tablespoon)

Large egg yolks (4)

For the whipped cream topping (optional):

Heavy cream (1 cup)

Powdered sugar (2 tablespoons)

Vanilla extract (1/2 teaspoon)

Instructions:

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

In a bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs, melted butter, and granulated sugar. Mix until the crumbs are evenly coated.

Press the crumb mixture into the bottom and up the sides of a 9-inch pie dish, forming the crust.

In another bowl, whisk together the sweetened condensed milk, key lime juice, key lime zest, and egg yolks until well combined.

Pour the filling into the prepared crust, spreading it evenly.

Bake in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes, or until the edges are set and the center is slightly jiggly.

Remove the pie from the oven and let it cool to room temperature.

Once cooled, refrigerate the pie for at least 2 hours, or until chilled and set.

In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.

Spread or pipe the whipped cream onto the chilled key lime pie.

Garnish with additional key lime zest or lime slices, if desired.
