“This place smells incredible,” I whimper as we walk through the doors of a tiny hole in the wall pizzeria.

“If I recall, you said the same thing about this spot right here.” He presses his stubbled jawline against my cheek, the intoxicating aroma of his arousal seeping from his every pore overpowering the smell of melted cheese and pepperoni.

He’s holding my hand again, thumb absentmindedly stroking the web of skin between my own thumb and first finger. I’m biting my lip so hard that it might bleed. All I want to do is kiss him but because there is no one else in the place, all eyes of the staff are on us.

I can’t say that it doesn’t feel weird as hell to be out in public with him, affection or not. Weird might not be the right word since it was inevitable. The morning I woke up in his bed, I knew this was going to be a repeat thing. If not permanently, at least once more.

He’s talking but I missed what he said, lost in a daydream. At least I’m not drooling this time because I’m not thinking about him nakey for once. I’ll take him fully clothed out in public with me, acting like my boyfriend.

“Brooke? Do you know what you want?”

“Hmmm?”

He’s laughing at me but his face says it’s because he finds me cute not stupid. “Pizza. You want something? I think we’ve established that you’re starving half to death.” He leans closer to me and continues. “For my dick.”

He squeezes my ass and I giggle like a schoolgirl. Why does this feel so good?

“Anything. I’m not picky,” I lie. I don’t know why, it just comes out. If I were wearing pants, they’d be on fire.

“Loaded?”

“Except that.”

“Pepperoni?”

“Boring!”

“Meat lovers?” I have to look away. He set me up for that. Right? How am I not supposed to snicker like a little boy who just successfully blamed his fart on his sister?

“Nuh uh. Sausage. Yuck.”

It’s his turn to laugh. He has to. “You love sausage. You know you do.”

His hands on my lower back are more intoxicating than any drink I’ve ever had but maybe, if we’re going to continue doing this, I will need to make this into a drinking occasion. No, scratch that, I definitely need to.

“How about we get whatever you’d get when you were a kid?”

“You sure?”

I nod as we make our way to the counter.

“We came here all the time when Dad was sick. It was the hardest time in my life. Mom left us, Dad was dying, he knew it, but he always tried to make us smile. We used to pick the craziest thing on the menu to see if he’d eat it. He did, every time. No matter what crazy concoction we came up with, he’d devour it like it was the best thing he’d ever tasted.” He moves towards my ear but I beat him to the punch.

“We all know I’m the best thing you’ve ever tasted,” I joke, pushing him away from me playfully.
