Once in his room, he took a deep breath. Hopefully in a few days this will pass he thought. I’ll just hang out here in the garden and not go into town.

So Sam settled into a day at home. He ate scones, he helped his Grandmother in the garden and he read some of his book.

At tea time his Grandmother noticed that there were a few more cars heading towards the village than normal. ‘Normally gone home for their supper by now, wonder what’s going on’ she said whilst peering round the curtain.

Sam remained quiet. The sinking feeling in his stomach returned.
