The Supernatural and Dreaming
The Iroquois believed that supernatural forces were present in all things in nature. These spirit forces were created by the supreme being. Sky spirits assumed the form of wind, thunder, sun, moon, and stars. Earth spirits were found in plants and animals. All these spirit forces flowed together in orenda, the force that controlled the weather and all living things. Flowing like a song through nature, orenda gave people spiritual power and the ability to undertake mighty deeds.
