Chapter Seventeen

~ Syros ~

Watching Parker dance had been like visualizing passion and lust and giving it form. He had been a creature of desire. I'd never seen anything like it, but I knew I wanted to see more of it.

Dancing with him had been an experience I'd never had before. I wasn't much of a dancer, but I'd been taught the moves. The moves we did couldn't even begin to reach tango status, but they had worked. Parker had taken it to a whole other level, even if he didn't know all the steps.

Another song started, this one a slow song. Instead of releasing Parker as I knew I should, I kept my arms wrapped around him and began slowly dancing with him.

My throat had grown so dry as I looked down into Parker's big brown eyes, I didn't think I could swallow let alone breathe.

"You look amazing tonight." Much better than what he usually wore. I don't know where he got those slacks, dress shirts, and sweaters he wore when I'd seen him before, but they were a fashion don't.

This was a fashion hell yeah.

Parker's face lit up when he laughed. "These old things?"

"You changed your hair." It had been three months and so much had changed. Parker looked like a totally different man.

I approved.

Parker grimaced at my statement. "My father would hate this haircut."

"Fuck your father," I snapped. "Do you like it?"

Parker's rounded for a moment. "Yes, I do."

"Then that's how you should wear your hair." I reached up and drew my thumb across the soft skin right under his eyeliner enhanced eyes. "And this." One side of my mouth curved up in a smile as I moved my hand to the earrings in his left ear. "And these."

When I brought my hand down, I trailed it from his ear to his neck and then down his torso until I encountered smooth warm skin. "And this."

Instead of moving my hand back up. I slid it under the edge of his shirt and around to the middle of his back, pressing my hand flat against the soft curve of skin right above the waistband of his low-rise black pants.

"You should wear what makes you happy."

"I know," Parker said. "That's one of the reasons why I left. I got tired of my father trying to make me into someone that I wasn't."

To know that this vibrant man had been hidden away by Franklin might be his biggest crime, and I had certainly had a hand in that.

"I'm sorry if I ever had any part of that."

Parker stopped dancing and stared at me, his eyebrows raised. "You're sorry?"

"I am, Parker. Half of this stuff I didn't even know was going on and the other half..."

"The other half what?"

"I think I turned a blind eye to it because I wanted to be company president so badly." I could admit my faults when I was wrong, and I had been very wrong.

Parker's eyes rolled. "How's that working out for you?"

"It's working fine, but..."
