When Gavin and that damn omega waltzed into my house, I knew there would be problems. That’s what omegas are. Problem-makers. And that was proven when she attacked Bianca unprovoked. Well, Bianca said it was unprovoked, that she was just getting water, and Haylee attacked her out of nowhere.

I lean back in my favorite tufted black armchair, whiskey swirling in my glass as I stare across the lounge at my brothers. We knew we needed to talk about everything that transpired today, and the guys promised me earlier that they would fill me with what they learned about our little mate. My lip curls at the thought of her being my mate.

I was surprised when I found out that Haylee is the heir to the most significant mafia family on the West Coast. Thane is one hell of a businessman and the most prominent gun dealer in the entire U.S. I have been trying for three years now to set up a meeting with him to supply my crew, but I had completely given up about six months ago when those meetings kept getting postponed.

The news in the circle was that he had lost his heir, and his empire was in shambles, trying to figure out to whom he would pass it. No one ever knew what happened, but now, it’s as plain as day. His heir is an omega, and there is no way to guarantee that someone won’t take advantage of her to take over. It would be as easy as that, force a mating, take over, and kill her off.

They didn’t supply any more information than who she was, leaving me with my thoughts running rampant about what could cause such a visceral reaction when we were all in her room this morning. But if I had to guess… A growl builds in my throat at the idea of someone taking advantage of her.

Fuck, that damn omega is messing with me, and she’s not even in the room.

I tune back into my brothers as they start discussing the fight between Haylee and Bianca. It’s plain to see they both are ready to drop to their knees and believe every word she speaks. Stupid fucking mate bond. If we aren’t careful, it will get us all killed.

Anger courses through my veins, the glass in my hand creaking under my white-knuckled grip as I listen to the guys explain her side of the story of what happened. They don’t believe a word Bianca said, but I can see that they are just sticking up for their little mate. What self-respecting alpha wouldn’t? Me, that’s who. And I can’t wait for the day I can stuff her perky ass on a plane and get her the hell out of my life.

She made herself scarce the rest of the day, which is wise because, at this point, I don’t know what I would have done if I’d seen her. Due to her temper tantrum, one of my favorite shirts got ruined,
