“Right!” said Miss Potter, “ I think you all need some extra maths homework tonight, except for Ali. Bring it back tomorrow for marking.”

As they walked home Hoppy asked Leon, “Can Ali stay at my house tonight?”

“If he wants to,” replied Leon.

Ali did not mind so that night he stayed at Hoppy’s house.

The next day was Tuesday. The jumbalees enjoyed school especially on Tuesday because the first lesson was games.

They could play football, cricket, baseball or netball. Today it was to be cricket. It was two hours of fun and Mister Broad, the games teacher, enjoyed it as much as the children did.

“Right, off to your next lesson,” he shouted to them at the end of the game, “Miss Potter is waiting for you.”

“Settle down quickly children,” Miss Potter shouted as the children noisily entered the room.

They all sat up attentively looking at the teacher.

“Well!” she said, “ Congratulations to Hoppy. He was the only one to get all of his homework correct. The rest of you will have to work harder.”

They all turned to look at Hoppy, who had turned bright red with embarrassment. Now they knew why he was so keen to have Ali staying the night at his house. Ali just smiled.
