Chapter 7

The next morning, Peter was so excited, he could hardly contain himself. Not only did he know where the chest was, he was going to ditch school to find it. He’d never skipped school, except when he was sick. He knew it was wrong, but he wanted to find the chest before someone else figured it out.

There had been a clue in Edwin St. Clair’s announcement to the village. He hadn’t noticed it at the time, but he realized it last night. It was one line in the announcement. When he heard it, Peter thought it sounded odd, but he just assumed Edwin St. Clair used peculiar language. He probably would never have figured it out if it hadn’t been for Grover’s sighting of Edwin. This was the line:
