I almost wish we were butterflies and liv'd but three summer days - three such days with you I could fill with more delight than fifty common years could ever contain.

As she felt herself embraced by the words, an unexpected, startling thought traveled through her mind.

John Keats, you did experience this, you and Shelley and Byron and Austen, and all the other brilliant, romantic poets and writers throughout the ages. You have all been messengers! I must follow your lead, somehow I must find the words to express what this is. I’ll never match your genius, but I will do my best.

“Do you have to be anywhere in the morning?” he yawned, his low soft voice pushing into her thoughts.

“Not especially,” she replied as she snuggled against him, “why?”

“I have this habit. I get up, have coffee, then go out for breakfast, and I’d really like you to join me.”

“Michael, I would love that,” she sighed.

Filled with a peaceful contentment, knowing he would sleep better than ever had in his life, Michael closed his eyes.

“Beth, I just had an inspiration,” he murmured pulling himself from his half-sleep.

“You did?”

“This documentary I’m doing, I think I want to change it.”

“To what?” she asked drowsily.

“Instead of making it about the mega-studios, I want to explore the great Hollywood love stories, starting with Hector and Marjorie. There are so many of them; Humphrey and Bogart, Rita Hayworth and Orson Welles, Frank Sinatra and Ava Gardner, even George Burns and Gracie Allen, the list just goes on and on.”

“I think that’s a brilliant idea,” Beth replied, “and people will be much more interested in learning about famous and compelling love affairs than the studios.”

“Will you help me? Be a contributing writer?” he asked sitting up and gazing down at her. “You’d be paid really well.”

“Of course, but you don’t have to worry about paying me. I won’t need the money.”

“What do you mean?” he frowned.

“I’ll be living in this bedroom, remember?”

A soft smile crossed his lips, and he leaned down to kiss her.

“You sleep well angel,” he purred, “I’ll see you in the morning.”
