We danced, as we had before, but this time when I held Remi in my arms, it was another feeling entirely. I cradled her, cherished her, and couldn’t help but notice every touch of her body against mine.

“Oh,” Remi said, out of breath, “I need a drink.”

On a whim, I kissed her fingers. “I’ll be right back.”

There was a bit of a line at the bar. When I got back, she was talking to a guy I recognized as the marketing guru for the company. He and his team had half the units in the high-rises sold even before we broke ground.

I handed Remi the drink and settled my hand at the base of her spine.

“Hey.” She grinned and waved to the man. “Cade, this is Mr. Macintosh.”

I nodded. “We met at the preliminary meetings before the groundbreaking.”

“I remember,” Macintosh said. “I didn’t realize you were dating this brilliant woman. Her campaign on Mile High Brewing was absolute genius.”

Pink flooded Remi’s cheeks, and she glanced down at her glass. “I’m surprised you knew about a relatively small campaign. And it was a team effort.”

“You were the team lead,” Macintosh insisted. “Take credit where credit is due. Besides, I make it my business to monitor all the up-and-coming talent in the marketing field. And you, my dear, have talent.”

“She is definitely amazing,” I agreed.

“Well,” he pushed away from the high table, “you both have a great night, and I look forward to seeing you again in the future.”

Remi sent me a wide-eyed stare as he walked away. “Holy crap. I can’t believe he knew about my campaign.”

“I can. You’re incredible.” I tapped her glass with mine.
