I came to and found myself lying on a couch.

Lights were on.

I got up.

The couch was circa 1920. As I surveyed the room, everything in it was straight out of the 20s: the bar, the furniture, everything.

A door opened, and a beautiful little redheaded girl came running in.

She was followed by Toni, dressed like a character right out of The Great Gatsby. She was chasing the child.

"I'm going to get you, I'm gonna get you." Toni sang as the girl ran, shrieking nonstop.

Toni gave up. "Okay, you win." She stood with her hands on her hips.

The little girl pointed at me as she hid behind a chair.

Toni turned her head to look at me. "Oh, good, you are awake." She smiled and came to sit next to me.

"What is this, Toni?"

"What is what?"

"What are you wearing?"

"Clothes," she simply said. "What are you wearing? You are absolutely filthy Drew, there is no way you can meet Eckard like that."

"Eckard?"

"Yes, silly. He's dying to meet you. Come, let's go wash up," she said and gave me her hand.

I took it, and the little girl went with us as we left the room and entered the hallway.

There were wooden walls, a blueprint carpet lining the floor, and a staircase a few feet to my right, going down.

The whole house could have been out of Fitzgerald's novel.

My eyes shifted to a couple in the hallway, and I gasped as my heart felt like it skipped a beat.

The Southern belle and Dan were murmuring to each other, leaning against the wall. She was flirting with him, and then they kissed.

I remembered what Mike had said in the boiler room. How she wanted him. She had gotten him, and everything felt off. It was all wrong.

"Oh, hi Drew," Dan smiled, and the belle gave me an icy glare. I looked away, trying to make sense of it all.

Toni came back. "Let's go, silly. Eckard isn't a man to be kept waiting."

She pushed me through another door, which led to a bathroom with blue tiles and white symbols.

An antique claw tub was the central fixture. A bath had already been drawn as steam was rising above it.

"Oh, Drew, what happened to you?" a woman by the basin asked as she slowly turned around to put down a towel. I couldn't believe it. She was Amy. Like Toni, her clothing was better suited for the 1920s.

I looked at myself. I had blood all over my clothes.

I started to cry softly.

"Now, now, don't cry. Come, let's get rid of those clothes, and then you take a nice long bath. Eckard is dying to talk to you."

I looked at both of them. "Please just tell me what is going on?"

"Drew, it is what it is," Toni smiled, and she started helping me out of my clothes. I didn't resist, and soon I was in the tub. The water was warm. As she and Amy washed me, they talked about their children, Toni and Mike's, as well as Amy's and Ralph's. But they were fucking teenagers.
