Watch it!” a boy shouted as Frank and Joe pushed through a crowd of kids.

Frank and Joe didn’t have to look back to know the pirates were chasing them.

“Keep looking for the treasure chest, Joe,” Frank called as they thundered up a wooden gangplank.

“We don’t have a clue where it is!” Joe called back.

The creaky gangplank led straight to the Spinning Barrel. The barrel was big enough for about six kids to run through—if they could run.

Frank glanced over his shoulder. The three pirates were running up the gangplank. The only escape was through the barrel and out the other side!

The barrel was empty when Frank and Joe jumped inside. They tried to run, but the spinning made them slip, stumble, and slide!

“Whoooooaaaa!” Frank cried.

“Aaaaaah!” Joe shouted.

Slowly, the brothers finally inched their way to the other side.

“It’s spinning faster!” Joe yelled.

Frank looked back. The three pirates were standing outside the barrel, laughing it up.

“They cranked up the speed!” Frank groaned.

The pirates dove inside the barrel. Joe felt sick as the pirates slowly made their way forward. What would they do now? The spinning barrel suddenly threw Joe against his side. He felt the bag of jawbreakers in his pocket.

“Jawbreakers!” Joe cried. “That’s it!”

“What are you doing?” Frank called as Joe spilled the hard, round candies out of the bag.

“Watch!” Joe called back.

It wasn’t long before the pirates began slipping and sliding over the rolling jawbreakers!
