I decide to get Crenshaw out of our lives by dropping some pot in his desk and telling Quinn about it. Quinn hates his guts and will rat him out. I know it’s wrong, Crenshaw will lose his job, but I don’t care. Maybe this is one of those times when two wrongs do make a right. Crenshaw’s had it coming for a long time. I need him out of my life and Johnny’s life.

I drive to Johnny’s and tell him straight out that I want some dope. Shrieks of laughter.

“You’re kiddin’, right?”

“No.”

“Really? You’re serious? What kinda dope? Getcha whatever you want, little brother.”

“Marijuana.”

“Well, I’ll be! Sonny McCluskey’s gonna do some Mary Jane. Get it by tomorrow, if you’d like. Good shit, but it’ll cost. How much you want?”

“Enough for a few joints.”

“Consider it done, rolled and all. Wow, man! I knew you’d see the light one day. Welcome to the club, little brother.”

I hope he doesn’t mean the Doctor Club.
