Chapter Eighteen
After giving Orlando an impromptu blowjob, I got dressed and headed to the kitchen. While I was waiting for my detective, I mopped the floor where we had gotten down and dirty the night before. Sex with my detective was good, but that had been on another level. Seeing the ornament he made me, I took it into the living room and hung it on the tree, right in the middle where everyone would see it. I drank my first cup of coffee, admiring all the ornaments Orlando had collected over the last few years for his nephew. We still needed to get one for this year, and I let my thoughts go to adding even more for our own child sometime down the road.
Orlando handed me my pistol as he retrieved both our guns out of the hidden safe we used. We made a habit of securing our weapons even when Zayden wasnât visiting. I slid my Sig into the shoulder holster I wore before slipping my arms into my coat. I had already started my truck and Lannyâs car so they would be nice and toasty when we got in. Orlando stepped up to me and fixed my collar, leaving his hands there so he could pull me closer. Our goodbye kiss got heated, as most of our kisses did, leaving me gasping for air. âDamn, Detective.â
âHold on to that thought while youâre out doing whatever it is you and Jillian are doing today.â We had yet to discuss our respective cases, but I knew it was only a matter of time until we compared notes. If the two ghosts who contacted me were connected to Lannyâs case the way I thought they were, I would either need his help in getting the women to cross over, or heâd need mine to figure out who killed them. I wasnât sure about working with him. I had no problem letting him help me; I had a feeling he wouldnât be as open to me aiding him, all because I was getting my information from the dead victims.
âIf I do that, Iâll be walking around with a hard-on.â Not like I didnât do that already. One thought of what Orlando and I got up to when we were alone had my dick twitching.
âTomorrow, I want to stop by the library on our way to see Dr. Carr. I need my Zayden fix.â
âSounds like a good plan. I know heâll be happy to see you.â
We walked out the door together, and I kissed him hard but quick. âSee you later, Detective.â
âYes, you will. Love you, Sam.â
I opened the door to my truck. Before I climbed in, I smiled at my lover. âLove you too, Lanny.â
As soon as I was seated, Cindy appeared beside me, and she was not happy. âUh oh.â I knew she couldnât exactly tell me why she was upset, but I wanted her to know I cared. âYou okay?â Instead of trying to talk like I figured she would, she kicked back in the seat and crossed her arms over her chest.
