Many of these processes can still be run in the cloud, but it may be that a more specialised cloud platform is required. It may be that all that is required is a solid, measurable, proactive and shared-risk service level agreement (SLA) between the organisation and the cloud service provider. It could be that a platform that has tiered storage offerings is required. Or there might be a need for dedicated offload engines such as graphics processing units (GPUs) or field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs), or even dedicated server types, e.g. a mainframe fully integrated into the cloud environment.
