Usually, a short, soft, 250 millisecond beep can be effective in ensuring that the user understands that it is their turn to speak. This is especially useful if the user does not have any visual cues (i.e., cues that they would get while interacting with Siri or Google Assistant on the phone, or Amazon Echo, which communicates with its blue ring light when it is listening).
