The next morning.

Heather and Dean’s Residence.

She (Heather) talks on the phone with her best friend, Daphne.)

HEATHER “Where have you been? I must have left you thousands of messages yesterday. Where were you?”

DAPHNE “Sorry, I got to the hotel late last night, and my phone just went dead on me. There were too many clients I had to see on my first day.”

HEATHER “They should give you some breathing time. You only started this job yesterday.”

DAPHNE “It’s fine.”

HEATHER “So you are at work now?”

DAPHNE “Yes. I’m right here. What’s up?”

HEATHER “I am supremely bored around here. I don’t know what to do with myself.”

DAPHNE “You shouldn’t be. Where’s your husband?”

HEATHER “I don’t know. Don’t even ask me.”

DAPHNE “What do you mean you don’t know? You are married to this guy, and you are pregnant by him.”

HEATHER “Because I honestly don’t know where he is at.”

DAPHNE “Did you guys fight last night?”

HEATHER “We had a little bit of an argument, and he didn’t sleep at home.”

DAPHNE “No way. He shouldn’t have left you all alone at home.”

HEATHER “It’s not new, Daphne. This is the new normal. He’s always sleeping out.”

DAPHNE “But you are pregnant. He should stick around, at least. Anything can happen, especially now that you have been diagnosed with hyperemesis.”

HEATHER “I’m not that important to him. I have never been.”

DAPHNE “Have you tried reaching him to find out where he is at?”

HEATHER “He’s fine. He’s probably in one of their luxury guest homes nearby.”

DAPHNE “Are you sure?”

HEATHER “Don’t worry yourself over what he’s doing. He could be with one of his hoes I could care less. I won’t be surprised. He’s been caught with one before. There could be many more affairs that we may not know about.”

DAPHNE “I’m sorry, Heather.”

HEATHER “The one who gets to make the babies is treated like a piece of trash, and the other one who hasn’t is worshipped around here like a Queen. It’s such an unfair world.”

DAPHNE “Aisling is still around, or did she go back to the fertility place?”

HEATHER “She’s here. She is not leaving until a month after Christmas.”

DAPHNE “Oh, they managed to get her to stay.”

HEATHER “Duke has purchased a restaurant space for her at the Wesbury Square.”

(Daphne shouts at her end, delighted.)

DAPHNE “You are joking with me!”

HEATHER “Why should this surprise you? It’s Duke Presley. That’s easy.”

DAPHNE “That’s a prime area.”

HEATHER “I know. She has always wanted to start an eating place. I guess they were waiting for the right spot to show up.”

DAPHNE “Wow.”

HEATHER “He worships her, baby or no baby.”

DAPHNE “I have been praying the same for you.”

HEATHER “Don’t waste your time. I want to go to Lincoln tomorrow. Can’t stay here this weekend.”

DAPHNE “When do you plan to return home?”

HEATHER “In two weeks or probably more.”

DAPHNE “Isn’t that too long a time to go away?”

HEATHER “Who cares? I need to be around the people I love. There isn’t one for me here, except for my son, and I’m going to take him along.”

DAPHNE “Do you think he’s going to be okay with that?”

HEATHER “I don’t need approval from the asshole.
