Chapter 17

Nithercott 3 Plot

I slide into my bed, ready to drift into a deep and undisturbed sleep when my phone buzzes:

The image loads. It’s a luxury house that is all concrete and glass and polished wood panelling. Thorny bushes and small trees tightly packed together ring the house, held at bay by a lush carpet of grass.

Me: Nice house, but . . . ??

Bijal: It’s where the Urban Achievers offices are and it’s only down the road.

I look at the image again and zoom in on the words embossed on the gate – Little Forrest. I sit up straight in bed. The name rings a bell.

But from where?

Ben: jinx. I was looking at the same thing.

Couldn’t sleep. It’s built like a fort though . . .

Bijal: No way in except through the front gates.

So they can’t be caught lacking.

Ben: To find a way in and get proof Orchid is the Changing Man, and clues on Leon’s location, we need to be meticulous in our planning

Bijal: Exactly

That’s right. When we were in the village shop. The woman. She said: ‘Remember to use the gate down the little lane and ring the bell twice. Someone will meet you there.’

Me: I think I know a way in

Ben: Go on . . .
