It is not to be wondered at that the Dictators of Europe supply the poorer citizens of their countries with free radio receivers, for, as a propagandistic or advertising medium, wireless broadcasting is unexcelled. The British Broadcasting Corporation does not concern itself with propaganda or advertising, but its programmes, whether they fall under the three general headings of news, education or entertainment, or whether they can be separately and more specifically described as Bach Recitals, have many millions of listeners.

So it was not, perhaps, so great a miracle that, by eleven o’clock that Wednesday morning, there had found their way to Charlton’s desk in Lulverton police station seven more reports, which, when added to the rest, put him in possession of the names and addresses of one hundred and five of the Sunday’s visitors to the Tower.
