APP: Any way you look at it, incest is ugly. The sexual abuse of a child by a relative or other person who’s in a position of trust and authority is never right. Lots of times there’s intense pressure on the victim to keep silent because of the fear that the family may break up. Incest can have long-term effects on victims. They can end up struggling with everything from low self-esteem to depression to substance abuse. But we have an amazing God who loves us more than we will ever know and has the power to put broken lives back together again. You may not be a victim of incest, but chances are you know someone who is. Think about being part of God’s long-term care in their life. Every incest victim needs the support of someone who cares about them and someone they can trust.
