If you are ready to merge the pull-request you can click the Merge pull request button. After that, you can add a small message to the merge,

and after merging you can delete the branch you used to implement the feature.

Back in your clone, you are still on the “new-feature” branch, even if you deleted it when merging the pull-request. The branch is still there in your clone, and you are still on it.

You can select the “new-feature” pull down button and switch to the “master” branch.
