The next day, when Alice woke up on her own without any trolls in her face or the smell of fish in the air, she felt fully rested. She sat up in bed and, wondering what time it was, hurried to the door. Pulling it open, she found Dorothy standing in the hall.

“Good afternoon,” Dorothy greeted her.

“It’s afternoon already?”

“Don’t worry, I overslept too.”

“Good,” Alice replied with a chuckle.

“Brave Lion told me Glinda has regained her strength. Some of the fairies treated her overnight.”

“That’s great. Now we can ask her what our next move is.”

“That’s why I came,” Dorothy said with a smile.

The two of them headed down to the tree where Glinda and a few others had gathered. Glinda was seated quietly in a chair while the rest had found a place on the floor and under the tree. When the small group saw them coming, they got to their feet and greeted them.

“Sorry we’re late,” Dorothy said.

“Not late at all, child,” Tin Woodman replied as he gestured for them to take a seat on the tree stumps clustered there.

“We were just discussing what to do next,” Scarecrow said.

Dorothy turned to Glinda and asked, “What is your plan?”

Glinda merely smiled and shifted her gaze from her to Alice. In a soft voice she said, “Alice, tell us your plan.”

Alice was caught off guard. What did Glinda mean? With everyone’s eyes on her, she thought over her words carefully. Then she simply said, “I have to go to Wonderland.”
