Chapter 54

What a dilemma.

Should I tell the police about the Serial Killers Chat Room? Tell them the Alphabet Killer is an active member? Hope they can trace him and catch him before he kills again?

Or should I keep quiet, protect my family, and track him down myself? Be a hero.

There are no new developments on the news this morning, other than someone has leaked to the press that the Alphabet Killer left an AA battery inserted up against his latest victim’s cervix. The police have released a statement that basically says they haven’t got a clue who he is.

I discard my half-eaten piece of toast (with peanut butter) and go in search of Sophia.

“Right, I’m off to work, babe.” I put on my coat. “Do you have any plans for the day?”

“Do you mean apart from providing essential nutrients and a nurturing environment for your growing child?”

“Yeah, apart from that.”

“Well, someone’s got to hold down the sofa.” She puts her feet up. “How’s the office without me?”

“Surviving. There’s a new temp starting tomorrow. Hopefully, I can pass some of my workload over to her.”

“She won’t be as good as me.”

“How could she be, sweetheart? You were the best admin assistant we ever had.”

“Administrative coordinator,” she corrects me.

“Exactly. You should really reconsider coming back to work after the baby’s born.”

“Not going to happen, sweetie. I’m a domestic chief executive officer now, and that’s how it’s going to stay.”

“I see. Sex tonight?” I wink.

Sophia laughs. “I admire your perseverance, Mr Bolton, but it’s not going to happen while my womb is otherwise engaged.”

“Quick blowjob, then?”
