Tap and hold the Dock icon you want to move until the icon expands momentarily, indicating that it is movable.

Drag the icon from its existing position to where you want it.

Drop the icon.

Note: If you synchronize your iPad with a computer, you can use iTunes to customize the Home screens and the Dock. You may find this an easier way to make extensive changes.

Tip

How can I put the default apps back on the first Home screen?

Press Home, tap Settings (), and then tap General (). At the bottom of the General screen, tap Reset. On the Reset screen, tap Reset Home Screen Layout, and then tap Reset in the dialog that opens. Press Home to return to the Home screen.

When you reset the Home screen, iOS arranges the icons for third-party apps in alphabetical order, starting after the last of the default apps.
