Big Sam requested that his family come together at their mother’s for brunch and everyone was in attendance, except for the kids. Everyone except for Chasity sat around the table and enjoyed their meal like nothing was wrong, but Chasity knew her brothers. Something was up and she wanted to hear what was up.

“Aight motherfuckas, why we here sitting at this table like some rich white folks on Sunday morning? What’s up?” She broke the silence.

Everyone burst out laughing, and she tilted her head to the side.

“I was very serious. Is this like a family meeting, eating or something.” She reached over for the bacon.

“I got y’all together to let y’all know that we handled that. That nigga won’t ever hurt y’all in any way again,” Big Sam announced with a mouth full of food.

Chasity stood up and pretended to shout. “Hallelujah and may his ass never rest in peace!”

Victory laughed and shook her head. “I’m so grateful for y’all. Do y’all think everything is going to be okay? You know, like, with it coming back on y’all and everything?”

“Girl, we do this shit. A nigga ain’t worried ‘bout the fucking law. Fuck that nigga. I just wish y’all would’ve told me before now, so I could’ve been did that nigga in.”

“Well, hey, the motherfucka is gone now so that’s all that matters. Dirion, pass me that champagne, so I can make a toast.” Chasity said.

When she got it, he held the bottle and stood. “Here’s to the best brothers any girl can ask for. They will kill a bitch and check a bitch about us and, for that, we’re grateful.”

They laughed and held their glasses up. “Cheers.”

Bibby leaned over and whispered to Victory, “Your boy helped up so make sure you let him know you appreciate it.”

“Lace?”

He nodded.

She grabbed her phone, and Bibby placed his hand out top of hers. “Never discuss business like this over the phone baby girl.”

“I was just going to say thank you.”

“That’s fine.”

She sent him a long and thoughtful text message. She had no idea that he had anything to do with what they did to her uncle, but that just showed her that he really did love and care about her.
