Chapter 12

“She hasn’t gone home yet. I left Deatrix there. He’ll notify me as soon as she arrives,” Chu told Bret.

“Where could she be? I mean, she has to return home soon to take care of those kids and that old aunt of hers. Are you sure she hasn’t gone to see that new dealer?” Bret asked, sounding impatient to Chu.

“Yeah. He’s been covered as well. I talked to Lester, too. He said someone in a black mask grabbed the bag of dough, but he also said that he didn’t recognize the other guy he did the deal with. He said he was some tall Spanish guy. I sent Felix to investigate further. There may be another problem, though.”

“What would that be? Considering I lost a hundred and fifty grand in drugs and money.”

“Detective Jamie Montgomery.”

“What the hell does he have to do with this?”

“He showed up at Mel’s place looking for her. I also found out that Mel worked over at Paul’s place Saturday night for a private party.”

Bret banged his fist on the table.

“Fuck! You think she’s a snitch for the cops?”

“Could be. I mean, when I think about all the shit you discussed on Friday night.”

“You have to find her, and the second you do, you bring her to me.”

“Yes, sir,” Chu stated then left the room.

Bret picked up the phone and made a call. “Hey, it’s me, listen, I believe we have a problem,” Bret told the other person on the line.

“What problem would that be?”

“Besides getting ripped off a shitload of fucking money, ah, let me think. Perhaps a voluptuous brunette we know fairly well. Seems she may have gotten herself involved with something that she’s not quite cut out for. Have any ideas where I might find her?”

“No. The club is the best place to catch her. She’s working tomorrow night, I know that much.”

“Well, I appreciate the information. I’ll call you when I’m ready for your services again,” Bret stated.

“If it involves the brunette, I will definitely be waiting for the call.”

The guy hung up before he could respond. Fuck! Melissa belonged to him. He wasn’t going to kill her yet. He just needed to set her in her place by his side and in his bed.

He glanced at his watch. Twenty-four hours. He’d have her in his bed in less than twenty-four hours.

Melissa sat on the couch in Sunny’s T-shirt with her legs crossed and her hands clasped on her lap. Logan straddled a chair in front of her. Frankie sat sideways on her left and a few inches away while Vince sat on her right. His thighs rubbed up against her thighs, making it difficult to focus. Jake stood by the fireplace staring at her. It was Sunny who began to speak.

“We understand that you have responsibilities and kids to take care of, but you need to understand what’s happening here between all of us. We’re meant to be together.”

She was silent a moment as she looked at the five men.
