Half a minute (and far too many people waving hello to Jill) later, they reached the base of the cheerily painted lifeguard tower, and the horrifying reality that there was no more putting off what was about to happen to her went cascading down Rhen’s spine like a bucket of ice water.

Oh god…

“Humph. How is this thing even close to being a tower?” she found herself demanding, the butterflies that had been building up inside her stomach finally breaking free and forcing her to speak after what felt like an eternity of holding everything in. “It’s, like, barely even off the ground.”

In truth, the structure actually overlooked the beach by a good six feet or more, and even standing on her tiptoes she was unable to see anything happening at the top of it. But, as far as she was concerned, a proper tower was something that had crenulations and was home to a wizard. Not some rinky-dink beach shack with a boogie board hanging from its roof.

At least its rainbow flag paint job was fun.

“Oooh, I don’t know. It’s high enough for me to see everything that’s going on around here,” dismissed Jill breezily, tugging her up along the wooden ramp that led onto the observation platform at the top of the tower. “And, unfortunately for you, kiddo, it’s also more than high enough for everyone else to see your bratty little butt getting spanked without any problems either.”

“Wait, what? Hold on!” squawked Rhen at that, her head swiveling frantically from side to side and discovering to her horror that the view from her elevated position was indeed quite spectacular. “Oh my god, Jill, you can’t seriously be planning on-”

“Yep,” confirmed the other girl, just as easy and carefree as before as she let go of her hand and started stretching her arms and shoulders, seemingly limbering up for what was to be a prolonged bout of aerobic exercise.

“But, like, can’t we do this inside?” begged the twenty-year-old turned teenager, flailing one panicky arm at the small hut next to them atop the tiny tower.

It was surrounded on all sides by tall windows, and she doubted very much that it would do anything to stop her cries of pain or the reports of Jill’s hard palm from carrying to anyone who might be close enough to hear them, but at least if they were in there she’d be able to hide her naked butt from the general public.

“Come on, please?”

“Hmmm…”

Jill seemed to consider her request for one long, nerve-wracking moment, tapping thoughtfully at her cheek as she stared off into space, before at last giving her broad shoulders an unconcerned shrug and smirking.

“Nah.”

“But… but… but why not?” demanded Rhen with a strangled, frustrated moan, stomping one foot in protest and making the entire structure beneath their feet tremble.

“Hey now, watch it, kiddo. This isn’t a jungle gym, you know,” reprimanded the lifeguard with another lazy (and feet lifting) swat to the seat of the younger girl’s swimsuit that had
