By the time we do get under way, it’s breezy and hot. A gorgeous day for sailing.

We have at least four hours ahead of us, so to pass the time, I dig out a deck of cards. “Can I teach you a bit of poker?”

She looks delighted. “I love it when you teach me things.”

And there’s my cock, hard as a rock again.

At least she’s put on clothes for the journey, because we will be passing other boats. Although jean shorts and a tank top don’t do anything to dampen my appreciation for every inch of her. She’s fucking cute.

But after the first hand, when I slide the cards across to her, she shuffles the deck like someone who grew up in Vegas.

“Whoa, where did that come from?”

She sticks her tongue out at me. “You didn’t ask me if I know how to play.”

I laugh out loud. “Walked right into that one. I thought you picked it up quickly.”

“Raised by a widower who had two teenage sons first. My father used cards for all important life lessons.” She says it casually, but there’s an understandable edge to her words.

“Hey.”

“Don’t.” She screws up her face, then casts her eyes to the canopy. “It’s fine.”

It’s not, though. “Any time you want to tell me about your parents, I’m happy to listen.”

She sucks in a breath and nods. “It’s hard.”

“I can imagine.” I hold out my arms, and cards are forgotten. She crawls onto my lap and hugs me tight. Yeah. I stroke her back and just breathe with her. “Nothing wrong with needing a bit of comfort,” I whisper. “And I like being this for you.”

She tightens her arms around my neck and doesn’t say anything.

That’s all right. We’ve got the rest of our lives to sort that out. We’ll open up to each other layer by layer.

I brush my lips against her temple. “I know what we need to do when we get to Freeport.”

She shifts in my arms. “Find a pharmacy that sells condoms?”

I laugh. Yes, that. But also, just as important, we need time together off this boat. “I want to take you on a date.”
