Brandon used the sat nav system in his police cruiser to find his way to the address. He parked on the drive and got out, glancing around before he climbed over the back gate into the rear of the deserted property. A big house, it was set back from the road, enclosed by trees. Just the sort of place to keep someone a virtual prisoner for ten years while you broke their spirit and their body.

He pulled on some latex gloves and walked up to the French doors, using his lock-pick gun to spring the lock. He slid the door open and stepped into a dining room. He was startled to be confronted with a blown-up image of Finn and Dominic hanging over the table, grinning at him. At least, Dominic was grinning—Finn was looking less than enthusiastic. Dominic had his arm around Finn. Finn sat with feet together and hands in his lap, eyes and body frozen. Brandon turned his face away.

The open plan kitchen led him into a neat, comfortably furnished living room and more pictures of Finn scattered about. Brandon didn’t exactly know what he was looking for, but he guessed he’d recognize it when he found it. He just wasn’t sure he wanted to find it. He stood in the middle of the living room and tried to get a feel of being Finn, in this room every day for ten years. He looked down at the beige carpet. A dried, brownish patch stained the fabric near the coffee table. Brandon tensed. Finn’s blood. If I brought a UV light and Luminol, I guess I’d find it all over the house.

Christ, do I really want to do this? I might find something here to give me nightmares the rest of my life. He straightened his shoulders. Being here was only going to help him further understand Finn’s continued suffering, he was sure of it.

The bookcase along one wall caught his eye. He went over, perusing the titles of DVDs lined up in neat rows. Horror films, old black and whites, gay movies. What a monster like Dominic was doing possessing a copy of such a tender love story as Brokeback Mountain was beyond Brandon. He presumed it was Finn’s.

On the bottom shelf, he found the porn. Anal Virgins, Cum Sluts, Straight Boys Get Fucked and other imaginative titles greeted him. Brandon pulled each one out and checked the back of the box for the director’s name, opening all of them to make sure the disc matched the box.

He found it in the middle of the row. Depraved, directed by Ezra Wright. What the fuck? Brandon sat staring at the cover featuring a twink tied up on a bed with a faceless man thrusting a cock into his mouth. Dominic owned Ezra Wright’s films. Zakes knew Finn from somewhere. No. No. I don’t want to think what this could mean.

He glanced around and found the remotes for the TV and DVD. Not many people still had these players, but he guessed Dominic was old school.
