When Miranda Yee called Harry Pittman for a meeting to discuss the case on the following morning, he suggested that they hold it in his conference room on the twenty-fourth floor, where there would be more space to spread out.

“But we don’t need to spread out, Harry.”

“Spread out. Don’t spread out. It doesn’t matter. But maybe your arsonist is an early riser, and what I’m thinking is it would look funny, all of us, at eight o’clock in the morning, going into Wylie’s office. Then he/she/it sees us, gets suspicious about what we’re doing, and sends me another anonymous letter or maybe even a letter bomb this time, because that’s a possibility, too. Who knows when you’re dealing with a loony tune what they’re going to do next?”

So, Wylie told Eddie NoName to come to the twenty-fourth floor on Thursday morning instead of to his office; and Eddie NoName said sure, no problem, and that he had a surprise for Wylie. Wylie asked what it was, but Eddie replied, logically, that if he told him, then it wouldn’t be a surprise.
