Chapter 9
Maria stared at Mattâs headless body, her mouth open, but no words or sound emitting. His head had just exploded, much like a watermelon would do if fired at from close range with a shot gun. His blood and bits of flesh, bone and brains had splattered everywhere. Some of it was on her face, some on her lips. She was afraid of moving her lips in case she accidentally tasted it.
Her heart pounded in her chest. It was so loud, like drums beating in her ears. She wondered if that was going to be the next thing to explode.
How had this happened?
All she had done was strike him with the small rock. Her eyes fell on the little purple rock resting in her palm. Sheâd hit him with that. That was all sheâd done.
The best-case scenario for her would have been Matt being knocked unconscious. Sheâd free herself from his grip and run away to hide somewhere dark and dingy. More realistically, a strike with her strength and the small rock would have just annoyed Matt. Possibly draw a little blood if she struck it well.
Fuckâ¦
Mattâs headless body remained seated on the bench. His hand still gripped hers. It was a tight grip. Not one she would be able to break free from without some effort. She tried to pry open his cold dead fingers, but not with much success.
Nervously, she glanced around. The park was empty. No one had spotted her killing Matt. If she could just free her hand, maybe she could slip away without anyone noticing.
But it was too late.
They were standing underneath the shade of the oak tree.
Maria blinked, then squinted.
What were they?
There was two of them. They were women. But they had blue skin. No. It had to be body paint. Except, one seemed to have a tail sticking out from under her skirt.
Theyâd seen what she had done. They walking towards her now. They were going to send her to prison. She was too young and hot for prison. The women in there would devour her. She was going to be the bitch, the whore, the fuck hole. She couldnât let that happen, not when sheâd just decided to be more careful of who she shared her body with.
Feeling the panic rising within, Maria frantically pulled her arm. Matt had an iron grip on her. His body climbed onto the centre table of the bench, but his grip would not relent.
âItâs not what you think,â Maria said to the two women. âI didnât mean to kill him. It was an accident.â
âDrop the Kalkunari,â the blue girl with the short blond hair said.
âI just wanted to get away from him,â Maria said. âHe wouldnât let go, so I hit-â
âDrop the Kalkunari, human,â the blue skinned blond repeated.
âDonât call the police,â Maria pleaded. âOkay, call the police, but you have to tell them what happened. What really happened. You saw him holding me, right?â
âDrop the Kalkunari, human,â the red-haired blue chick growled. âWe will not ask again.
