Dad Turns Up

Sophie spent the next few days getting to know Ali, learning her habits and likes and dislikes. The whole time, she worried about Ali being at the club, worried she wouldn’t be a good mum, and worried if Ali would be safe being here. Sophie spent a lot of time debating the rights and wrongs of a family living in the same house as the club. She loved her time with Ali and struggled every minute she was away from her. She’d completely fallen in love with her little girl, and reality kicked in. Having a baby was a full-time job on its own. She was grateful for Elaine being so on-hand. Elaine spent the first day caring for Grey, but he then left and went to his London home.

Sophie also had to take on the role of manager. The club reopened after two more nights of closure. She was trying to wrap her head around all the requirements of running this club, along with the other two locations Evan had left to her. It was certainly throwing her in the deep end. She didn’t know how she would have coped without Elaine.

Sophie noticed more security around the house and grounds. The security detail appeared to be very efficient and much more aware of security techniques and duties than the previous employees had been. Derek and Adrian were constantly having meetings, and Sophie was pretty sure Lucas and Grey had been part of the meetings.

“Typical bloody men. Think I don’t know they are meeting, and without me. Bloody idiots,” Sophie said to herself as she watched Adrian and Derek head into an office down the hall from her office. Sophie became more furious with her brothers every time she saw them having their so-called meetings, particularly because they didn’t want to include her in their discussions. No matter how much she argued that she had firsthand experience, and that this was about her life, they just kept pulling the It’s for your own good and safety.

“I’ll give them fucking safety. They were around when all this happened, but I wasn’t any safer then, was I?” Sophie screamed aloud to no one in particular. “And what about Tia? Man, I wish I knew where she was.” Sophie almost cried as she said this.

Tia had remained in hospital for the night but then disappeared. According to the duty nurse, some huge, gorgeous man turned up and took her away. Apparently, Tia was really pleased to see him.

Tia left a note for Sophie and Roxie, saying she would be alright. She would be in touch, but she needed time alone. Tia sent texts saying she was well. She called once, late at night, to speak to Sophie and let her know she was okay, but she wasn’t ready to come back yet. Sophie still worried but knew her sister would turn up when she was ready.

“Please come home soon, Tia,” Sophie said to herself.

“I see you are still talking to yourself, Sophie,” a voice from the door said.
