“THIS PLACE is incredible,” Rory said, walking around the spacious living room while Tucker tipped the bellman. The decor was beachy deluxe, with oversize armchairs made of woven water hyacinth, potted palms against pale aqua walls, and dark shining mahogany floors beneath the sisal rugs.

Instead of a suite in the main part of the hotel, they’d been given one of the luxury cottages that dotted the grounds. The bellman had pointed out the amenities, including a pergola draped in wisteria dripping with purple blossoms, a flagstone patio bordered by a low rock wall and the row of cypress and bushy pines that ensured the spa tub and small pool retained complete privacy.

They also had a bedroom balcony overlooking the ocean. Rory walked through the open French doors, drawn to the view. Beyond the green sweep of the resort grounds was the ocean. Gentle swells rolled toward shore, burnished like satin in the fading light. From nearby gardens, the scents of jasmine, honeysuckle and eucalyptus permeated the air.

Tucker joined her. “Maureen really went all out.”

Rory breathed deeply. “Mmm-hmm. I’m in awe. I’ve definitely stopped being peeved that you switched keys with that guy at the party.”

Tucker’s hand caressed her bare arm. She’d dropped her jacket inside and was wearing only the flimsy tank top that felt like no barrier at all against her flushed skin.

“I didn’t realize you were still peeved,” he said.

She laughed lightly. “Oh, I’m not. That was a little kick to the ego, but I got over it quickly.”

“His loss.”

“For sure. If he could see this cottage…”

“No. If he could see you.”

She smiled, nudging into Tucker’s hand with her shoulder. “You’re sweet.”

“Nah, I’m selfish. I’m softening you up for when I make my big move.”

His tone had been teasing, but his gaze was direct. She looked into his eyes for a couple of seconds, hoping for a kiss, ready for a kiss, hungry for a kiss.

Tucker made her wait.

His gaze moved across her features and for an instant she wished she’d gone into the bathroom to repair her makeup instead of only oohing over the whirlpool tub. But he wasn’t concerned with melted mascara. He was looking at her lips.

They burned with anticipation.

“Lick them for me,” he murmured.

Strands of hair had drifted across her face. She turned her face toward the ocean to blow them away, tilting her chin into the wind and closing her eyes as she slid her tongue between her lips. She rolled them against each other, slowly letting her bottom lip pout, wet and full.

“You’re so sexy.” Tucker put his hand on her cheek. “I have to kiss you.”

Her lashes fluttered halfway open. “Don’t hold back on my account.”

He nuzzled her first, nipping at her mouth until she opened for him with a soft sigh. At that, he took hold of her hands and pressed closer. She met him, arching into the kiss with her chin tilted high and her breasts pushed against his chest.

The kiss became firm, even possessive. The anticipation she’d been feeling for hours burst into pleasure, making her body light up like fireworks.
