CHAPTER SIXTEEN

The next eighteen months went well at Moon Shine Events. Cara was now completely fluent in Arabic, French and Italian. Rebekah had encouraged her to learn the extra languages and the business paid for it. Rebekah told Cara that learning these languages would give the her the edge in business and she wasn't wrong. Cara had managed several more events for her prestigious client and his extended family. None as large as the birthday party, but she put no less effort in and she continued to impress. Rebekah had also been keen to show Cara more of the administrative side of the business and now she was pretty much able to run the business while Rebekah had meetings with other clients and when she had to travel abroad, which was happening with increased frequency. Together they recruited new staff and the team had grown by 50%. Each new team member had been scouted by one of the existing members of staff and had been recruited for their skill and efficiency and, perhaps most importantly, their discretion. Everyone within the team was aware that with such high-profile clients it was key that their employees understood the importance of client confidentiality.

Rebekah had always been very good at incentivising her staff but with Cara in place she found that the office seemed brighter, even more enthusiastic, and positive. Rebekah couldn't be any happier with the way things were being run. Now that she knew she had someone she could really rely upon, Rebekah was able to take more time off to spend with her daughter. Most days she was able to meet Azizah from school and leave Cara to run the office. Launching her company in a male dominated country had been difficult even given her family background. Being half Emirati had certainly smoothed the way for Rebekah, but it wasn't easy. Because of who her parents had been Rebekah had been keen to ensure she was recognised for her own accomplishments and not just those of her father, or just the name of her mother. Being a member of one of the most influential families in the Emirates had its benefits, of course. She had inherited part-ownership of one of the large real-estate firms in Dubai, hence the ability to run an office and own properties within the towers. She was clever enough to know that image was everything and used her family ties to her advantage.

She knew the moment she met Cara that she was the right person. Finding out that they had so much in common and had got on so well was the icing on the cake. She picked up her phone and dialled Cara's number.

“Hi Rebekah! What's up?” Cara asked, surprised to hear from Rebekah on a Friday. Her boss worked the team hard but when there were no events to run she insisted that after working Sunday through to Thursday they have Fridays off. If they ever did meet at the weekend, it tended to be on a Saturday

“Are you free later?” Rebekah asked.
