CHAPTER ELEVEN

Penny rubbed her cheek into the pillow while Alexa brushed over her hair with her fingers. She smiled and twined their fingers together, pressing her chest in close with the purpose of feeling Alexa’s rigid nipples on her own swollen ones.

“We should have taken a shower before we climbed into your bed.” She lifted up her foot covered in grass and mud. Other parts of her body were the same, combined with her sweat and various fluids from their romp outside.

“I never had you in my bed before and was willing to forego the shower.” Alexa drifted her fingers across Penny’s ass as she rubbed her toes along her hip.

Her cheeks warmed. The sheets and covers were practically destroyed from their bucking and tossing on them. She’d been afraid the bed would collapse as Alexa made her get on her hands and knees and used her mouth on her. She’d hidden her face in the mattress to stop from screaming too many times to count.

She settled on her back and winced. Sore didn’t even cover how she felt.

“What’s wrong?” Alexa cupped her cheek.

“I’m not used to so much…exercise,” she responded blandly.

“You mean from my fucking.”

She frowned. “That sounds so crude.”

Alexa reached down and grazed Penny’s nipple with her nail. “Isn’t that what we’re doing? Just fucking?”

She tossed back her hair and sighed. “You know it’s more than scratching an itch between us.”

“Oh, do I?” Alexa moved on her back and glowered up at the ceiling.

How do I respond to this? She wanted to roll her eyes over Alexa’s pouting but refrained. She took one of Alexa’s snarled strands and looped it around her finger.

“No answer?” Alexa cocked her head.

“What do you want me to say, Alexa?” She sat up and leaned back against the headboard. She stared out the window. Night had fallen into early morning, the sky changing to a muted gray that would eventually transform into light.

“You know what I want to hear from you.”

She released Alexa’s hair and wrapped her arms around her knees. “I need time to think things over. You can’t expect me to jump at your commands like your minions.”

“Minions?” Alexa snickered and mimicked her by sitting back against the headboard and folding her knees into her chest. “You’re far from being my minion.”

“What am I? And don’t you dare ask me to be your blood servant, or I’ll smack you.”

Alexa brushed her fingers down the side of Penny’s face. “You’ll never be regarded as my servant. You’re my lover…my soul mate.”

She turned away. The longing and sadness she heard from Alexa made her chest hurt.

“No comment over my impassioned confession?” Alexa’s voice grew frigid, and she took hold of Penny’s chin, turning her face toward her.

“Once upon a time, I wanted nothing more than to be considered your soul mate.” She rested her hand on Alexa’s shoulder. “I know how hard it is for you to be open with your feelings about me. But now we have many obstacles. The difference in
