ON A QUIET AFTERNOON, Ty and Flynn were hanging out in front of their apartment building. Ty was looking over Flynnâs shoulder as he played a video game. But he suddenly stopped paying attention when he saw a pretty girl pass by. He jumped up to the top step. âHey!â Ty called out, and did a few slick dance moves. He flashed the girl a stellar smile. Then he did the moonwalk and showed her a few more dance moves. âThe name is Ty Blue!â he shouted. âFriend me!â he added as the girl smiled and continued walking.
âSo wait, girls like guys who dance?â Flynn asked. He had been watching Tyâs interaction with the pretty girl very curiously.
âWhat do you care?â Ty asked as he settled back down on the step.
âUh, no reason,â Flynn said quickly, trying not to give himself away.
Ty saw that look on Flynnâs face. He knew it all too well. âOh, I get it! Little dudeâs got a crush on a little dudette,â he said, chuckling. He put his hand on Flynnâs head and rubbed his hair.
âBack off!â Flynn shouted, leaning away from Ty. He tried to smooth down his styled hair. âThat takes two hours in the morning,â he complained.
âAll right, all right,â Ty said. âSo, does this little dudette have a name?â He slid down one step to sit closer to Flynn.
A smile spread across Flynnâs face. âDestiny,â he replied, sighing. Then his eyes lit up.
âWell, do you share your cookies and milk at snack time?â Ty asked, trying not to laugh but failing.
Flynn shot Ty a dirty look. Ty held up his hands innocently. âIâm just kidding,â he said. âYou like this girl? well, Iâm going to show you a move the ladies will love. Come on.â He waved Flynn down the steps to stand next to him on the sidewalk. âWatch me, then you try.â Ty did a few quick dance moves. He spun around and pointed to Flynn. âGo,â he said.
Flynn looked down at his feet. There was no way he was going to be able to do any of those moves. Ty was an unbelievable dancer! âIâm going to die alone,â he mumbled. He knew that his dance moves were certainly not that good!
Ty was optimistic. This situation was going to need some careful attention, but he knew he could do it. For the next few days, he worked with Flynn and tried to teach him to dance.
After about a week, Ty met up again with Flynn outside the apartment building. Ty motioned for him to move down to the sidewalk where there was more room to dance. âAll right, kid. Show me what youâve got,â Ty said. âOne, two. One, two, three!â
Flynn did some of the best moves that he hadâwhich wasnât saying all that much, but he had worked hard to mimic some of Tyâs dance routines. âWhoo!â he cried as he finished.
âHey! Good job, little dude,â Ty told him.
Just then, a young girl walked by. Ty put his fingers in his mouth and let out a catcall.
