ON A QUIET AFTERNOON, Ty and Flynn were hanging out in front of their apartment building. Ty was looking over Flynn’s shoulder as he played a video game. But he suddenly stopped paying attention when he saw a pretty girl pass by. He jumped up to the top step. “Hey!” Ty called out, and did a few slick dance moves. He flashed the girl a stellar smile. Then he did the moonwalk and showed her a few more dance moves. “The name is Ty Blue!” he shouted. “Friend me!” he added as the girl smiled and continued walking.

“So wait, girls like guys who dance?” Flynn asked. He had been watching Ty’s interaction with the pretty girl very curiously.

“What do you care?” Ty asked as he settled back down on the step.

“Uh, no reason,” Flynn said quickly, trying not to give himself away.

Ty saw that look on Flynn’s face. He knew it all too well. “Oh, I get it! Little dude’s got a crush on a little dudette,” he said, chuckling. He put his hand on Flynn’s head and rubbed his hair.

“Back off!” Flynn shouted, leaning away from Ty. He tried to smooth down his styled hair. “That takes two hours in the morning,” he complained.

“All right, all right,” Ty said. “So, does this little dudette have a name?” He slid down one step to sit closer to Flynn.

A smile spread across Flynn’s face. “Destiny,” he replied, sighing. Then his eyes lit up.

“Well, do you share your cookies and milk at snack time?” Ty asked, trying not to laugh but failing.

Flynn shot Ty a dirty look. Ty held up his hands innocently. “I’m just kidding,” he said. “You like this girl? well, I’m going to show you a move the ladies will love. Come on.” He waved Flynn down the steps to stand next to him on the sidewalk. “Watch me, then you try.” Ty did a few quick dance moves. He spun around and pointed to Flynn. “Go,” he said.

Flynn looked down at his feet. There was no way he was going to be able to do any of those moves. Ty was an unbelievable dancer! “I’m going to die alone,” he mumbled. He knew that his dance moves were certainly not that good!

Ty was optimistic. This situation was going to need some careful attention, but he knew he could do it. For the next few days, he worked with Flynn and tried to teach him to dance.

After about a week, Ty met up again with Flynn outside the apartment building. Ty motioned for him to move down to the sidewalk where there was more room to dance. “All right, kid. Show me what you’ve got,” Ty said. “One, two. One, two, three!”

Flynn did some of the best moves that he had–which wasn’t saying all that much, but he had worked hard to mimic some of Ty’s dance routines. “Whoo!” he cried as he finished.

“Hey! Good job, little dude,” Ty told him.

Just then, a young girl walked by. Ty put his fingers in his mouth and let out a catcall.
