Armageddon

Of course the best known, and probably most feared prophesy is the reference to Armageddon in St John’s book of Revelations in the Bible. Armageddon is described as the final battle between good and evil. Yet Armageddon is also a geographical location in Israel, nestled in a green valley.

I travelled through the area several years ago and found it to be a beautiful and very peaceful valley filled with lush and verdant farm lands. During excavations in November 2005 a major discovery was made whilst clearing the ground for a new structure. A newly discovered ruin turned out to be a Christian church, in fact the oldest ever discovered in the area, dating back to around the third century. As the ruins were cleared a magnificent mosaic floor was found with a depiction of two fishes, the zodiacal sign of Pisces at the centre. This sign of the precessions was found at Megiddo, at the foot of Mount Megiddo, or Armageddon.

This discovery, I believe is the key and the essence of the true meaning of the Book of Revelations.

The Book is a compelling but often confusing section of the New Testament. The book begins with the Apostle John explaining that he has had a spiritual experience/vision where he was shown what appears to be the end of the world and the second coming of Jesus. It would take a whole book to go through every one of the many points of the prophecy but here is a quick synopsis:
