Chapter Nine

The shower water, hot and steamy, coursed down Devin’s back. God, it felt good. Hot showers were darn close to nirvana, especially after a hard night of fucking. Sex with Rocco in the Guild’s basement had been more than Devin ever could’ve hoped for. Or dreamed about, and that was saying something since Devin had had some scorching dreams since he met Rocco. He scrubbed his chest then stood still, letting the water wash over him. Over his head, down his shoulders, his back then off his ass before splashing to the floor. He turned the water hotter and bent to let it pound on his upper back. Ahhh.

Devin’s heart thrummed with joy. He’d seen the change, no mistake about it. He’d seen the shift in Rocco’s tight, dark aura. A crack had formed in Rocco’s shield—and the beautiful rainbow of light that peeked out had blossomed into a full spectrum of emotion as Rocco orgasmed. He’d changed in that moment. Let his guard down. With Devin. Rocco had shown his true self.

And it was beautiful.

And all mine. Devin reluctantly shut off the water and stepped out of the shower onto the tiny floor mat. He shook out his hair and grabbed the towel from the towel bar. He pulled the soft fabric around his shoulders and chest then his waist, rubbing it against his skin, enjoying the slight friction as he dried. First time he hadn’t jerked off in his morning shower in a long time. Hopefully Rocco would be willing to pleasure him after the parade and Devin would certainly return the favor. Happily.

He’d hated to leave Rocco and come home last night but he didn’t want to ruin a great thing by overstaying. And Rocco hadn’t asked him to stay. Plus, he had to text Mikhail back before he got even pissier and he didn’t want to do it in front of Rocco. Good thing Devin had decided to come home—Mikhail had sent a bunch of texts, each one angrier than the one before. Ugh. Now Mikhail was on his way over to Devin’s apartment to discuss whatever it was that was so urgent. He’d insisted he had to tell Devin in person despite Devin’s protestations.

Mikhail was insistent and more than a little scary.

Devin headed to his bedroom to dress. He wasn’t going to let Mikhail’s bullshit ruin the day. He’d hear him out then head to the parade to meet up with Rocco and the G3. Mikhail wasn’t going to sabotage his day with Rocco. Or his night. He tossed the damp towel onto the bed. Definitely not his night.

After the parade Devin would head back to the Guild with Rocco for what Kenon had promised to be a party unlike any he’d ever seen. Devin could believe it. The G3 was such a fun group, he had no doubt they could throw a party. Rocco had talked a little about the things the basement could do—thanks to Kenon’s genius and some hired technical expertise.
